Buckland Hall – location

where we are

Buckland Hall - Pen y Fan mountainYou'll find us in the beautiful Brecon Beacons

If it's naturally beautiful surroundings for your retreat or away-day venue you're after, it doesn't get much more lovely than Buckland Hall. Our country mansion is nestled on the edge of Buckland Hill overlooking the river Usk and our view is quite literally the peaks of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales.

how to get here

We're just down the road from the market town of Brecon in the Brecon Beacons National Park – an unspoilt area of natural beauty and a retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life – although we're not so far off the beaten track that you'd need a 4x4 to get here!

Take a breath of fresh mountain air or go star-gazing

The Brecon Beacons and nearby Black Mountains, both in the Brecon Beacons National Park, form an area now designated as an International Dark Sky Reserve (one of only five in the world). That means very little light pollution and some great, late-night star-gazing opportunities for wedding party revellers!

The mountains, rivers and valleys a stone's throw from our front door offer great walking and cycling, as well as climbing, hang gliding and kayaking for the more adventurous. The area is also packed with thriving market towns with a marked absence of chain shops - Crickhowell, Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye offer books, boutiques, antiques, cafes and more.

If you're staying for a wedding weekend at Buckland Hall you may want to explore the National Park's history and heritage too. Just down the road is the restored medieval manor house of Tretower Court, or maybe you're into castles: we're not far from Raglan Castle, a civil war stronghold and one-time home of the young Henry Tudor (later Henry VII). Up the road in Brecon the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh can give you an insight into military history - its men took part in battles like Rorke's Drift in South Africa's Boer War.

We're not ruling out simply looking at the spectacular views from Buckland Hall but we think this area has so much to offer you may even want to come back and holiday here.
