How to ensure your celebration goes with a swing
Our mansion has a well-stocked private bar with a late (late!) licence for your exclusive use during your wedding weekend. It's a big attraction for some who like to calm pre-wedding nerves or enjoy a post-nuptial tipple or two.
As for drinks during your wedding banquet, we have a wide choice of wines plus mineral water which is served up from our own spring (a neat touch... we hope like it).
We have a well-stocked wine cellar, featuring mainly organic wines that are great-tasting and great value.
Here are some of our current wines and champagnes (it's an ever-changing list). We have reds, whites, sparking wines, champagnes and rosés for you to choose from, including:
Buckland Hall sparkling wines & champagne
Champagne Blanc de Noirs Brut NV, Maison Fleury
This is a classic Champagne with delicate summer pudding fruits (from Pinot Noir) and a lovely, crisp finish from the biodynamic multi-award winning Fleury estate.
Cava Can Vendrel Brut Albet i Noya – Spain
A more substantial sparkling than the Prosecco wines but still offering fabulous value. Expect soft citrus fruit, balanced acidity, crunchy green-apple fruits and a nutty finish.
Vino Spumante di Qualita Extra Brut Verdicchio Perlugo, Barone Pizzini
Crisp with some yeasty notes but over all a zesty and fresh taste. Soft nose with a clean fresh smell of strawberry fields. A refreshing tipple when you need a pick me up!
Buckland Hall white wines
Natural Star Chenin Blanc – Sauvignon, 2011/12 Stellar Winery (Fairtrade)
This is a fairtrade wine with an instant appeal. Crisp acidity, refreshing, an off-dry style.
Adobe Sauvignon Blanc, 2012 Emiliana Organico
This Chilean Sauvignon Blanc has all the classic characteristics such as lime, gooseberry and lemon with lots of tropical fruits.
Vin de Pays de Gascogne Les Quatre Cepages, 2011/12 Domaine de Pajot
Lovely and completely charming wine from this blend of four grapes (Colombard, Ugni-Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Gros-Manseng) that make a refreshing, dry white. Really enjoyable!
IGT delle Venezie Pinot Grigio, 2011/12 Touchstone
Pinot Grigio as you would expect and even better! Sweet green pea and summer orchard fruits are the striking qualities of this well-balanced, easy-going wine.
Tupungato Chardonnay, 2011/12 Domaine Jean Bousquet
Unoaked Chardonnay with brilliant clarity of flavour; apples and pears with hints of spice in the finished wine.
Nelson Sauvignon Blanc, 2011/12 Richmond Plains Vineyards
Herbaceous with gooseberry and capsicum notes. In your mouth you’ll experience the bursting sensations of green apple and limey/citrus flavours with a lovely background of mineral and nettle tones.
Sancerre, 2011/12 Domaine Dauny
Refreshingly clean, grassy grapefruit and granny smith fruit, all complemented with just the right amount of acidity.
Buckland Hall red wines
Natural Star Shiraz, 2011 Stellar Winery (fairtrade)
Another fairtrade wine that is gentle and juicy with touch of spices. It aims to please and, most certainly delivers.
Rioja Livor, 2011 Vina Ijalba
Velvety smooth from start to finish, Raspberry fruits and soft tannins, you’ll never tire of its charms!
Merlot, 2011/12 Touchstone
Benchmark Merlot full of smooth, jammy black cherry and plum fruits with good length too.
Tupungato Malbec, 2012 Domaine Jean Bousquet
Aged in oak for 6 months, this means you can pick up the vanilla and spice that oak brings without loosing any the fantastic black plum, blackberry and dark cherry fruits that Malbec is famous for.
Cotes du Rhone, 2010/11 Chateau Rochecolombe
A fantastic nose of spice and wild strawberry with a mouthful of back fruits, serious weight and black peppery spice to finish.
Novas Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot, 2009 Emiliana Organico
Cherry and strawberry fruits aplenty in this striking biodynamic red from one of the world's most highly respected winemakers, Alvaro Espinoza. The palate has an inviting cream and mocha edge.
VDP de l’Aude ‘Pure’ Pinot Noir, 2011 Chateau de Brau
This lightly-herbal southern French Pinot Noir has crunchy summer berry fruits and a good, long length of flavour in the palate. Chunkier than some Pinot Noir's this wine can certainly carry more flavoursome foods.
Chateau Beausejour, 2008/09 St Emilion
A classic right bank Bordeaux red made from 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Nicely textured wine with balanced, lightly-grainy tannins that make it a great wine for food.
Buckland Hall rosé wines
Natural Star Shiraz Rose 2011/12 Stellar Winery (fairtrade)
Great fun rosé with eager summer fruits, light acidity and a full ripe finish.
Merlot Rose 2011/12 Touchstone
Bright and beautifully coloured rose with lovely, fresh raspberry and strawberry aromas with generous, lively palate.
Pinot Noir Frizzante Rose, 2011/12 Meinklang
Light fizz and refreshing palate with generous quantities of red summer berry fruits and biscuity notes.
